In short

A 1Namecard QR code is a branded QR code for one digital business card, downloaded as SVG for print or as a 1024 px PNG. It has rounded dots, finder eyes in your accent colour and error correction level H, so about 30 percent of the code can be damaged and still scan. It opens the card on your own address.

What it does.

  • One code for every card.

Each card has Download QR (SVG) and Download QR (PNG 1024) on its edit page. A published card also serves its code at /<slug>/qr.svg.

  • Rounded dots, your accent colour.

The dots are rounded and dark. The three finder eyes, the squares in the corners, take the accent colour you set under Branding.

  • A white tile with a border.

The code sits on a white tile with a two-module border. On white paper the tile blends into the page. On a dark slide or banner it is the whole quiet zone a scanner sees, so test it in print.

  • Error correction level H.

Level H is the highest of the four levels in the ISO/IEC 18004 standard and tolerates about 30 percent damage. A scuffed badge still scans. The price is a denser code, which needs a little more size.

  • Vector for print, tested small.

The SVG scales to any size without blur, so send it to the printer. In a test with a software scanner, the 1024 px PNG still decoded when reduced to 200, 120 and 90 px.

  • It holds an address, not a contact.

Changing a phone number or a title never needs a new code. Rename the card's slug and the old address keeps working. Add a custom domain later and printed codes keep opening your cards, because your <name>.1namecard.com address stays on.

QR codes on Business. Team has 50, Starter 3

How it works in three steps.

  1. Step 01

    Publish the card.

An unpublished card, and its code, show not found.

  2. Step 02

    Download the code.

Take the SVG for print or the PNG for slides.

  3. Step 03

    Print and test.

Print a proof at real size and scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone.

Who it is for.

Limits by plan.

  • Included: Every card has a code, so Starter has 3 codes, Team 50 and Business 500.

What it does not do yet.

  • Not included: QR codes for short links, and a print kit with sizes and quiet-zone checks, are in development, see the roadmap. Until then the guides on QR code size for print and how to brand a QR code cover it by hand.
  • Not included: Customer QR codes have no logo in the centre, because a logo needs the printed code checked by hand.
  • Not included: Only the three eyes follow your accent. The dots stay dark so the code keeps its contrast.

A QR code generator for business cards that is part of the card.

You do not paste a link into a separate tool. The card exists, so the code exists, in your colours. Because the code holds only an address, the details on the card can change as often as people change jobs. For a link per placement, use a short link.

Before you print a QR code business card.

  1. Step 1.

Download the SVG, not a screenshot of the PNG.

  2. Step 2.

Keep clear space around the white tile, with no text or lines against it.

  3. Step 3.

Print a proof at the final size and scan it with two phones, from where people will stand.

  4. Step 4.

Check the code on a dark background. The tile stays white and the eyes stay readable.

Questions about this feature.

Can I put my logo in the middle of the QR code?

Not today. Customer codes have no centre logo. Your logo is on the card the code opens, and your accent colour is on the corner eyes.

Do I need a new code if I change my phone number?

No. The code holds the card's address, not your details. Edit the card and the page behind the code changes.

Which file should I send to the printer?

The SVG. It is a vector file and prints sharp at any size. Use the PNG for slides and documents.

What size should I print it?

It depends on how far away people stand. Print a proof at the planned size and scan it from the real distance. The guide on QR code size for print gives a rule of thumb.

Try it on your next show.
