Short links and QR codes
Download a card's QR code.
- Who can do this
- Owners and admins for every card. Members for their own cards.
- Where in the app
- Cards, then open a card, then Share
In short
You will have an SVG and a PNG of the card's QR code in your accent colour, tested with a phone and ready to print.
Steps checked
Download the code.
- Step 1.
Open Cards and press Edit on the card.
- Step 2.
In the Share panel press Download QR (SVG) for print. It is a vector file, sharp at any size.
- Step 3.
Press Download QR (PNG 1024) for slides and documents. It is 1024 by 1024 px.
- Step 4.
Find the files in your downloads, named after the card address:
<card-slug>-qr.svgand<card-slug>-qr-1024.png.
Hand the SVG to your printer or designer: it scales to a badge or a roll-up without blurring. Use the PNG on screens, in slides and in e-mail signatures. Members see Download QR (SVG) and Download QR (PNG 1024) on the cards they own. Owners and admins see them on every card. The first card you make in the setup wizard also offers both files on its finish screen.
What the code contains.
Only the card address: <your-organisation>.1namecard.com/<card-slug>, or your own domain once it shows Live under Settings, Domain. There is no tracking parameter in it. If you rename the card address, the old address redirects to the new one, so older printouts keep working.
How it looks.
- Rounded dark dots on a white tile with a quiet margin.
- The three finder squares, the eyes, in your accent colour from Settings, Branding.
- Error correction level H, the highest of the four levels in the ISO/IEC 18004 standard.
- No logo in the centre, so the whole data area stays intact.
Test it before you print.
- Step 1.
Publish the card. Press Preview the public card to check the page.
- Step 2.
Open the downloaded file on your screen and scan it with the camera of an iPhone and of an Android phone. The card should open.
- Step 3.
Print one copy at the final size. Scan it again from the distance a visitor will stand.
- Step 4.
Print the rest only when both phones read it. See the guide on QR code size for print.
Common questions.
Does the code change when I change my accent colour?
A code you download afterwards uses the new colour. Codes already printed keep working and keep their old colour, because the address inside does not change.
Can I put my logo in the middle of the code?
No. Codes for your cards have no logo in the centre. The accent colour on the finder squares is what makes them yours.
Can I download a QR code for a short link?
Not yet. QR codes for short links are in development. Each card has its own code today.
